In June 2026, WhiteBIT's European arm secured a MiCA licence from Austria's Financial Market Authority, according to The Block. That approval changes how European traders should view the exchange. This WhiteBIT review is aimed at one group in particular: EU-based traders who want regulated access to both spot markets and high-leverage futures.

The Licence Picture

WhiteBIT was founded in 2018 and is incorporated in Vilnius, Lithuania, according to CoinGecko. Its regulatory standing now rests on two items:

  • A MiCA crypto-asset service provider licence held by WhiteBIT EU and issued by Austria's FMA in June 2026
  • A registration in Bulgaria, listed by CoinGecko but marked as AI-sourced, so treat it as unconfirmed

The MiCA licence is the one that matters. It brings WhiteBIT's EU business under the bloc's common rulebook for crypto service providers.

The exchange is not available to residents of the United States.

WhiteBIT Review of Fees: Spot and Futures

Costs are low on both sides of the platform:

  • Spot: 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker at the base tier
  • Futures: 0.01% maker and 0.055% taker

The futures maker rate is especially low, which rewards traders who use limit orders. The platform also runs its own WBT token, which sits at the centre of a wider ecosystem of features.

Leverage: Useful, and Dangerous

WhiteBIT offers futures with leverage of up to 100x. At that level, a price move of around one percent against you can wipe out a position. That is simple arithmetic, not a platform flaw, but it is the main reason most users should stay well below the maximum.

Set stop-losses, use isolated positions where available and never fund a futures account with money you need.

Other Products

Beyond spot and futures, WhiteBIT offers margin trading, Earn products and trading bots. Together they give active traders most of the tools they need in one account.

Trading bots can run a strategy around the clock, but they still need monitoring. A bot set up for a calm market can lose money quickly when volatility jumps.

Coin Range

CoinGecko counted 327 coins and 786 pairs on WhiteBIT in November 2026. The high pair count means many coins trade against several quote assets. The coin list itself is smaller than at some offshore rivals, so traders chasing obscure tokens may need to look elsewhere.

For the European derivatives trader this review is aimed at, that is a minor issue. Most futures volume sits in the larger assets, which WhiteBIT covers.

Security and Transparency

According to Coin Bureau, WhiteBIT published a proof of reserves report in November 2024. The exchange also holds an AA rating from CER.live, a security rating service. CoinGecko records no security incidents.

Proof of reserves is a snapshot, not a continuous guarantee. Keep only what you are actively trading on the exchange.

Opening an Account

Register on the official WhiteBIT site, pass identity verification and enable two-factor authentication. If you intend to trade futures, practise with small positions and low leverage before scaling up.

Verdict

WhiteBIT combines a fresh MiCA licence, low fees on spot and futures, and a clean security record with published reserves. That mix makes it a strong candidate for European traders who want derivatives from a regulated provider.

The cautions are a smaller altcoin range, no access for US residents and leverage high enough to cause rapid losses. Used with discipline, it is a capable platform.
