Binance Review 2027

Binance still leads on liquidity and low fees, but the record October 2026 breach and its EU exit change the risk picture for traders.

Any Binance review written in late 2027 has to start with the breach. On 29 October 2026 attackers drained about $6.3 billion from Binance-controlled wallets, which reports describe as the largest crypto theft on record. The exchange still tops CoinGecko's rankings for spot volume, so the real question is whether its liquidity outweighs the fresh risk.

What happened in October 2026

Reports attribute the attack to TraderTraitor, a group tied to North Korea, and the FBI confirmed North Korean involvement on 31 October. Deposits and withdrawals were temporarily suspended while the exchange responded.

Binance said it would absorb the loss using its SAFU emergency fund and company money. About $3 billion was frozen on-chain, and Coin Bureau reported that roughly $6 billion had been covered as of 3 November 2026. The recovery was still in progress when this page was written, so follow official announcements for the latest position.

Before the hack, the main safety tools were a published proof of reserves, which Coin Bureau describes as at least 1:1, and the SAFU fund itself. Both remain in place.

Binance review: who the exchange suits

Binance works best for active traders who care about depth. CoinGecko tracks 519 coins and 1,364 trading pairs on the platform as of November 2026, while Coin Bureau counts more than 500 cryptocurrencies. Deep order books mean large trades usually fill closer to the quoted price than on thinner venues.

It is a weaker fit for beginners. The interface is packed with products, and what you can actually use depends heavily on where you live.

Where you can and cannot use it

Licensing is patchy. Binance holds a Financial Services Permission from ADGM in Abu Dhabi. Binance FZE has held a Dubai VARA licence since April 2024, and that licence includes derivatives.

Europe is the big gap. Binance withdrew its application in Greece in June 2026 and has no MiCA licence. According to Euronews and The Block, crypto-asset services for EU residents were suspended from 1 July 2026, affecting countries such as France, Italy, Spain and Poland.

US residents are not served by the main platform either. They are directed to Binance.US, which runs as a separate business.

Trading fees

Spot pricing is simple for regular users:

  • Standard rate: 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker
  • Paying fees in BNB: 0.075% maker and 0.075% taker

That base rate is low by the standards of US-regulated exchanges. These are the regular-user rates, so check the official fee page if your volume puts you in a different tier.

Products beyond spot

The product list is one of the longest in the industry:

  • Futures, margin and options
  • Staking and Earn products
  • A P2P marketplace
  • Copy trading and automated trading bots

Leveraged products carry a high risk of loss, and each one is offered only in some countries.

Opening an account

Sign up on the website or app, complete the identity checks and fund the account. If you live in the EU or the US, the main platform is not available to you, and trying to get around those limits is a bad idea.

Verdict

Binance still offers the deepest liquidity among the big exchanges, low base fees with a BNB discount and an enormous product range. The October 2026 breach is a serious mark against it, even though the exchange moved quickly to cover losses.

Traders outside the EU and US who value liquidity above all may still find it useful. Anyone who puts a clean security record or EU regulation first has better options for now.
